U.S. Attorney John Durham resigns under increasing pressure from Biden administration

U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was appointed as a special counsel to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, announced on Friday that he will resign from the office of United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, effective on Sunday evening.

President Joe Biden, who stands to be exposed by any findings of Durham’s probe, pledged that he would not explicitly fire Durham, but his attorney general nominee, Merrick Garland, raised eyebrows during his confirmation hearing by refusing to confirm or deny whether he would dismiss the probe.

It appears that Durham is quitting the job before Biden or Garland has a chance to fire him, issuing a press release on Friday explaining his decision to step down.

According to a Justice Department press release:

After serving as the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut for more than three years, and as a federal prosecutor in Connecticut for more than 38 years, John H. Durham today announced his resignation from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, effective at midnight on February 28.

“My career has been as fulfilling as I could ever have imagined when I graduated from law school way back in 1975,” said U.S. Attorney Durham.  “Much of that fulfillment has come from all the people with whom I’ve been blessed to share this workplace, and in our partner law enforcement agencies.  My love and respect for this Office and the vitally important work done here have never diminished.  It has been a tremendous honor to serve as U.S. Attorney, and as a career prosecutor before that, and I will sorely miss it.”

The press released went on to add that First Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonard C Boyle will serve as Acting U.S. Attorney after Durham’s departure from the office.

“The Office will be in the extraordinarily capable hands of Len and our superb supervisory team who, together, guarantee that the proper administration of justice will continue uninterrupted in our District,” the statement read.

No mention of what will happen to the Crossfire Hurricane probe that Durham has yet to complete was made in the statement, though it appears that Trump’s appointment of Durham as a special prosecutor may protect the ongoing investigation.

This is a developing story.

I was doing pretty well keeping track of the crooks in DC, but I have now lost count. I remember running out of fingers and toes, but now it appears it will no longer matter. The Department of Justice has done an almost perfect cover up of the corruption in our government, and we’ll just let it happen again.

It is reasonable to believe that important investigations of this sgnificance to the country should have provisions in place in advance to preclude political affects that impact the results being completed.

Yes the swamp is deep ande very corrupt….I’m afraid we will have to have an armed conflict to settle it. This corruption cannot go on much longer. The American people are getting tired of all the payoffs and bad people running the government. There will be a push to get rid of big tech and once they fall the others will fall like dominos. It can’t happen soon enouth.
