Two staff members who worked for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have resigned in the past week, fueling rumors that the congresswoman may be eyeing retirement following the 2022 midterms.
Pelosi’s Press Assistant Riley Lopez took another role in the Senate just days after Deputy Communications Director Robyn Patterson left for a job with the Commerce Department.

“Sometime in the not-so-distant future, probably after next year’s midterm elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will announce that she’s stepping down,” The Atlantic wrote in August regarding the congresswoman.
Pelosi is not the only Democrat to lose key staff in recent days. Vice President Kamala Harris has been widely panned for losing key staff less than a year after taking office in the White House.
Chief Spokesperson Symone Sanders was the biggest name to leave, with claims of Harris creating a “toxic” work environment.
