Twitter reacts to as Elon Musk sharing theory on Pelosi home break-in

Twitter erupted after self-proclaimed "Chief Twit" Elon Musk posted a conspiracy theory regarding the break-in at the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), which left her husband, Paul, hospitalized.

According to a report by The Washington Examiner, Musk responded to a tweet from former secretary of state Hillary Clinton on Sunday after she criticized Republicans and their "mouthpieces" for peddling "deranged conspiracy theories."

Musk shared a link to an article about the break-in suspect, 42-year-old David DePape, who is accused of trying to kill Paul Pelosi with a hammer and committing burglary and elder abuse.

"There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye," Musk said in a tweet, that shared a post putting forward allegations that Paul Pelosi was intoxicated and had met the intruder at a gay bar earlier in the evening before the attack took place on Friday morning.

The tweet received tens of thousands of retweets, comments, and likes in just a few hours. There were many angry comments, but Musk also had supporters.

Later, it looked that Musk, who has more than 112 million followers, had removed the tweet.

"Really? The new owner of twitter is spreading the conspiracy theory … even just saying there is a 'tiny possibility,'" tweeted Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).

Late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel also called out Musk, tweeting, "It has been interesting, over the years, to watch you blossom from the electric car guy into a fully-formed piece of shit."

More angry comments from blue checks appeared, along with tweets predicting Twitter's demise from people who had already expressed doubts about Musk's plans for the social media site in the wake of his acquisition of the business.

Elon Musk is already spreading dangerous lies on the platform he owns.

This answers the question as to whether Elon’s Twitter will devolve into an unflushable turd of disinformation and dudebro conspiracy mongering. When the Dictator of Twitter is doing it himself, it’s inevitable. 🖕🖕 https://t.co/61AQ7M2FJy

The new CEO of twitter posting obvious to a 12-year-old disinformation about a politically motivated attack on the family of one of the highways level politicians in the US because she’s a democrat is a great starting point for the new era here https://t.co/QV7Q5xCMeF

There is a large probability that this is totally irresponsible.

Pelosi, who is 82, "was admitted to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's spokesperson said in a statement. The lawmaker's husband is expected to make a full recovery.
