'Twitter Files 3.0' confirms Twitter management targeted Trump

The latest "Twitter Files" release reveals that the platform's prior management was working towards banning former President Donald Trump long before they finally made the decision to do so.

This third batch of internal conversations was reported by Matt Taibbi on Friday night. You can read the entire thread for yourself here.

The first "Twitter Files" release centered around Twitter's decision to censor the New York Post's bombshell report on Hunter Biden just before the 2020 presidential election. The second "Twitter Files" focused on how, contrary to what previous management has claimed, Twitter has engaged - extensively - in the practice of "shadow banning."

The third "Twitter Files" reveal what was going on at the company between October 2020 and Jan. 6, 2021. In other words, the files reveal - via internal communications among Twitter employees - what was going on at Twitter in the months leading up to the company's decision to ban Trump from its platform.

Trump, ostensibly, was banned from Twitter following the Capitol protests of Jan. 6, 2021, in order to prevent further violence.

But, what the newly-released documents show, according to Taibbi, is that Twitter management developed the "intellectual framework" for banning Trump long before they actually banned him.

In fact, according to Taibi, when Twitter finally did ban Trump, internal communications reveal that the decision was based on "'context surrounding': actions by Trump and supporters “over the course of the election and frankly last 4+ years.'"

Taibbi goes on to reveal the several different ways in which Twitter "shadow-banned" Trump prior to Jan. 6, 2021, and, perhaps more importantly, prior to the 2020 presidential election.

Taibbi also reveals that there was extensive communication taking place between Twitter management and several government agencies.

What remains unclear, however, is the role these government agencies played in all of this. It is unclear, for example, whether these government agencies pressured Twitter to ban or shadow-ban users.

According to Taibbi, there are going to be at least two more "Twitter Files" releases.

The next release will be about what was going on at Twitter on Jan. 7, 2021, the day after the Capitol riot. And, the release after that will be about "secret internal communications" that took place at Twitter on Jan. 8. Both releases are expected to occur over the weekend.

Trump, at the time of this writing, has yet to make a public statement about the most recent Twitter Files release. Instead, on Truth Social, he has settled for citing numerous articles that have been written on the topic, which demonstrate how Twitter shadow-banned Trump before the 2020 presidential election.

There is no doubt that the point Trump is trying to make is that this is election interference. And, at this point, that's a fact: Twitter blatantly interfered in the 2020 presidential election.
