Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey has resigned from the social media company he founded 16 years ago.
Dorsey confirmed the speculation Monday morning in a post on Twitter with a copy of his email to employees.

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders,” Dorsey gave as his reason for leaving in the statement.
Dorsey also said he believed the company should move beyond being founder-led.
“There’s a lot of talk about the importance of a company being ‘founder-led.’ Ultimately, I believe that’s severely limiting and a single point of failure,” Dorsey wrote.
Twitter will be led by Parag Agrawal who has served as the company’s Chief Technology Officer.

Agrawal has served at Twitter since 2011. Some fear he may increase censorship on the platform due to past statements.
Jack Dorsey steps down as twitter CEO, replaced by CTO Parag Agrawal.
Censorship will get worse.
Agrawal in Nov 2020 interview:
“Our role is not to be bound by the First Amendment…focus[ing] less on thinking about free speech, but thinking about how the times have changed.”
