Within his first few days of holding office, President Joe Biden sent shockwaves through the system when he immediately began rolling back former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
According to the Washington Examiner, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson obtained an email sent to officials within the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that reveals a direct order to “stop all removals,” adding “release them all, immediately.”
The email, which was reportedly sent to ICE officials from an official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, made crystal clear that America’s immigration system is in for a chaotic and unsettling overhaul. It also came on the heels of one of Biden’s first executive orders which imposed a 100-day moratorium on deportations of most undocumented immigrants.
“As of midnight tonight, stop all removals,” the email reads. “This includes Mexican bus runs, charter flights and commercial removals (until further notice) … all cases are to be considered [no significant likelihood of removal in foreseeable future],.”
Carlson took issue with the email, as any concerned American citizen should, and pondered exactly what this messaging means, especially since Biden’s executive order didn’t state anything with concern to releasing illegal immigrants who are currently in custody.
“So, what was this memo about?” Carlson said. “Just the result of the complete chaos that resulted when the incoming administration, on its first day, changed a policy this big without explaining what it means.”
Interestingly, the official who sent the brow-raising email noted that he was “just the messenger,” presumably interpreted that this new directive came straight from the top of the chain of command, according to Fox News.
The bottom line is that it’s very apparent that the Biden administration will completely disrupt all of the progress Trump made on securing the southern U.S. border. Between orders like what was in the email and the halting of construction on the border wall, America will likely be a very different place over the coming months and years.
