Trump sits comfortably at top of new poll of GOP 2024 presidential nominees

By now, not even former President Donald Trump’s most critical political enemies can deny his position at the top of the Republican Party food chain.

According to Breitbart, in a new University of Massachusetts Amherst poll, Trump found himself securely at the top of yet another Republican Party 2024 presidential nominee frontrunner list, making it clear that the party desperately wants the 45th president to give the White House another shot.

The survey, like previous iterations, asked respondents to rank their top three candidates to take the party’s nomination for a 2024 presidential run.

Trump, as he did in December 2021, came in first with a staggering 55% of the vote, meaning he has not lost any of his strong base of majority support within the ranks of the Republican Party.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has become extremely popular throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and his strong approach to stamping out woke politics in his state, came in second place with 20% of support.

Many have suggested that their ultimate dream team would be a Trump/DeSantis 2024 ticket, with DeSantis taking 2028 as president. The numbers, at this point, certainly seem to suggest it as a popular possibility.

The poll also revealed more than just how popular Trump is with his party, as it showed just how unpopular President Joe Biden is with his own party, garnering only 33% support when Democratic voters were asked the same exact question. Clearly, Dem voters want someone else to give it a try in 2024.

Breitbart noted: “Perhaps what is most significant is that the figure represents a seven-point drop from the 40 percent who chose Biden in December 2021, further demonstrating the reality of Biden’s waning support even among members of his own party.”
