There are many reasons to mourn over President Donald Trump’s loss to Democratic President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election. One of the biggest may be the return to endless lockdowns in the new administration.
While announcing breakthroughs in a new coronavirus vaccine Friday, Trump promised “this administration will not be going to a lockdown.” Trump further warned “who knows” what his likely successor President-elect Joe Biden would do, saying “I guess time will tell,” according to Fox News.
President-elect Joe Biden ran on promises of national mask mandates and lockdowns, playing on the left’s hysteria over COVID-19. Then Pfizer announced Monday they found their vaccine candidate to be 90 percent effective, with the news curiously coming a week after the hotly contested 2020 presidential election.
“If you had a different administration, what we’ve done would’ve taken three, four, five years. It would’ve been in the FDA forever,” Trump said of the unprecedented accomplishment of developing and possibly releasing a vaccine in record time in his remarks Friday. There are other vaccine candidates that will likely advance as well, but the president promised the Pfizer version would be administered “free of charge,” with priority to medical workers and the elderly before everyone else, likely beginning in April.
Still, the vaccine was politicized before it was even a reality. Trump-nemesis New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic politician whose disastrous directive forced coronavirus-infected patients back into nursing homes, resulting in thousands of deaths, expressed skepticism. “Frankly, I’m not going to trust the federal government’s opinion and I wouldn’t recommend to New Yorkers based on the federal government’s opinion,” Cuomo said in September with his state promising its own approval procedure for any vaccine before distribution.
“We won’t be delivering to New York until we have authorization to do so. It pains me to say that. Governor Cuomo will have to let me know when he’s ready for it,” Trump said of the distribution timeline. The establishment media will surely twist his words as a threat, but Cuomo is the one that set himself in opposition to the vaccine and promised obstruction.
….We cannot waste time and can only give to those states that will use the Vaccine immediately. Therefore the New York delay. Many lives to be saved, but we are ready when they are. Stop playing politics!

Meanwhile, the incoming Biden administration hasn’t ruled out more lockdowns, although they’ve since backed into a “nuanced approach.” Dr. Celine Gounder, an infectious disease doctor and part of Biden’s panel on the virus, told CNBC lockdowns would “be much more targeted geographically” and used as a “a dimmer switch, not an on-and-off light switch.”
Even as the Trump campaign’s litigation in many states winds down, cementing Biden’s victory, good news from the Trump administration still continues to pour in daily. However, also continuing daily is the left’s mistrust, misinformation, and downplaying of it all to convince half of the country Trump is horrible. The leftist media has accomplished its objective. Unfortunately, the biggest loser in the 2020 presidential election is America.
