Former President Donald Trump campaigned on border security and fought to curb illegal immigration once in office. However, his successor has seemingly ruined everything.
Trump took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration’s failure to deal with the border crisis, according to the Washington Examiner. Illegal immigration is higher than its been in two decades, and Trump diagnosed the nation as being a “sick country” due to the Biden administration’s policies.
The former president made the remarks as part of a roundtable discussion in Weslaco, Texas Wednesday. He was speaking on the subject with members ofTexas law enforcement and politicians before heading off.
“We have a sick country in many ways,” Trump said. “It’s sick in elections, and it’s sick in the border. And if you don’t have good elections and you don’t have a strong border, you don’t have a country,” he asserted.
Trump recently made a trip to the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley for the first time as a civilian rather than as president. He said the Biden administration must have a “screw loose and you want to have open borders” and pointed out that “murderers, rapists, and drug dealers and human traffickers” were flooding “into the United States of America at a level like we’ve never seen.”
There has been a surge of illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. since President Joe Biden took office in late January. So far, 170,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended each month and March, April, and May — a record number not seen since the year 2000.
Harris, who was tapped to handle the border crisis, did not make the trek until around the time Trump announced his plans. However, instead of visiting one of the problematic crossings, the vice president took the photo op miles away in El Paso, Texas late last month.
Trump did not let Harris get away with such an evasive move. “We’re going over to the border right now, but we’re going to the real part of the border where there’s real problems, not a part where you look around and don’t see anybody,” Trump said.
The Biden administration created this illness in our nation and have no plans for a curative solution. While Trump may not be president, he’s still willing to work on the problems that ail our nation — and always with just what the doctor ordered.
