Former President Donald Trump accused Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday of “folding” to Democrats on the debt ceiling after proposing a three-month plan to stop a government default.
“Looks like Mitch McConnell is folding to the Democrats, again. He’s got all of the cards with the debt ceiling, it’s time to play the hand. Don’t let them destroy our Country!” Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.

McConnell offered his own statement to explain the reasons behind the agreement.
“The unified Democratic government had two and a half months to address the debt limit through reconciliation,” McConnell said.
“Instead, they drifted to the doorstep of yet another self-created Democrat crisis.”

The agreement only offers a three-month temporary fix. Congress will have to take up the issue again soon, offering another opportunity for Democrats to come up with a solution, or continue to blame Republicans for not doing so.
