Former President Donald Trump blasted new charges filed against the Trump Organization on Saturday during his Sarasota, Florida, rally.
“They’ve mobilized every power of government to come after me, my family, my wonderful employees and my company solely because of politics,” Trump said, according to The Hill.
“It’s a terrible, terrible thing,” he told the audience.
The latest indictment was announced on Thursday. The information claimed the Trump Organization was guilty of various fraud and conspiracy charges, including 15 total charges.
Ron Fischetti, an attorney representing the Trump Organization, said on Thursday, “After years of investigation and the collection of millions of documents and devoting the resources of dozens of prosecutors and outside consultants, this is all they have?”
He added, “The District Attorney is supposed to be apolitical, but everyone knows that the only reason they are proceeding with this case is because it is ‘Trump’. As far as we are concerned, this case is over.”
Trump addressed the charges in a statement on Thursday. He called the charges part of, “”The political Witch Hunt by the Radical Left Democrats, with New York now taking over the assignment, continues.”
Despite ongoing litigation, Trump’s rally revealed the former president’s enduring popularity. The rally included fireworks and thousands of attendees, though Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis remained in Surfside to oversee the recent building collapse recovery.
