Trump campaign issues statement distancing from Sidney Powell, attorney responds

On Sunday, the Trump campaign, in a puzzling move, issued a statement declaring that former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell was not a part of the Trump Campaign legal team.

Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.

Rudy Guliani, President Trump’s personal attorney, and attorney Jenna Ellis released the statement just days after Guliani, Ellis, Powell, and other members of Trump’s legal team held a press conference to explain their legal strategy regarding what they said was massive “election official” fraud.

The announcement comes as a surprise to anyone following the story of the 2020 election and the Trump campaign’s efforts to bring legal challenges to the election process in the battleground states.

Powell has provided strong leadership in the effort, making the recent announcement very puzzling. Perhaps the strategy will make sense after the federal cases are filed. The Gateway Pundit and Michael Flynn Jr. posited that the changes were made to protect Powell and free her up to pursue the fraud cases without the constraints of the campaign.  Meanwhile, as recently as November 14, Trump included Powell in his list of attorneys working for the campaign. President Trump tweeted:

Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives.

Twitter suspended Powell’s Twitter account for 12 hours on Sunday, but General Michael Flynn posted on behalf of Powell, saying that she was going to “stay the course” to prove that the American people were robbed in the 2020 election:

@SidneyPowell has been suspended from Twitter for 12 hours. She understands the WH press release & agrees with it today. She is staying the course to prove the massive deliberate election fraud that robbed #WeThePeople of our votes for President Trump & other Republican candidates. Thank you Parler for allowing us to still breath the fresh air of liberty. @SidneyPowell @linwood @LouDobbsTonight @Marklevinshow @DineshDSouza #fightback #neverquit Galatians 6:9 👍💪🙏🇺🇸

Initially, Powell responded to the Trump campaign’s statement with a brief statement of her own:

I agree with the statement today. I will represent /#WeThePeople and seek the Truth. I intend to expose all the fraud and let the chips fall where they may. We will not allow the foundations of this great Republic to be destroyed by abject fraud.#KrakenonSteroids

Powell later released a lengthier statement affirming that she is not part of the Trump campaign’s legal team and that she will continue to expose the fraud that she finds:

I agree with the campaign’s statement that I am not part of the campaign’s legal team. I never signed a retainer agreement or sent the President or the campaign a bill for my expenses or fees.

My intent has always been to expose all the fraud I could find and let the chips fall where they may–whether it be upon Republicans or Democrats.

Powell maintained her assertions that the evidence for massive fraud in the 2020 election is “overwhelming” and that she will continue to prepare and file a lawsuit alleging that millions of votes were shifted from President Trump to Joe Biden via software:

The evidence I’m compiling is overwhelming that this software tool was used to shift millions of votes from President Trump and other Republican candidates to Biden and other Democrat candidates. We are proceeding to prepare our lawsuit and plan to file it this week. It will be epic.

Citing love of country, Powell expressed her determination to fight the stealing of the 2020 election by communists within and without the country and hostile nations.

We will not allow this great Republic to be stolen by communists from without and within or our votes altered or manipulated by foreign actors in Hong Kong, Iran, Venezuela, or Serbia, for example, who have neither regard for human life nor the people who are the engine of this exceptional country.

#WeThePeople elected Donald Trump and other Republican candidates to restore the vision of America as a place of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
