Trump calls Kanye West a 'troubled man' who can't win in 2024

Former President Donald Trump called Kanye West a "troubled man" who can't win in a run for the White House in 2024.

Trump shared the words regarding West, who now goes by Ye, after the rapper visited his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida last week.

Trump's post

"So I help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else, and who has always been good to me, by allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, alone, so that I can give him very much needed 'advice,'" Trump said on Truth Social.

"He shows up with 3 people, two of which I didn't know, the other a political person who I haven't seen in years," he added. "I told him don't run for office, a total waste of time, can't win."

Ye's response

Ye responded with a video on Twitter to the former president's comments.

"I think the thing that Trump was most perturbed about, me asking him to be my vice president," West said. "I think that was like lower on the list of things that caught him off guard."

West said that Trump was "basically screaming at me at the table telling me I was going to lose."

"I mean, has that ever worked for anyone in history?" He continued. "I'm like, woah woah hold on hold on Trump, you're talking to Ye."

The rapper ran for president on one previous occasion in 2020, obtaining legal status to add his name to several ballots.

"Kanye West spent nearly $6 million on his failed presidential run, which netted him a reported total of 60,000 votes and zero delegates," Billboard reported.

"In addition to registering for the party incredibly late (with what appeared to be no ground team in any of the battleground states), making only one major campaign appearance to go with two 11th hour video ads, West's scrambling effort got him on the ballot in just 12 states," it added.

The latest effort seems to be equally unorganized despite Ye's earlier announcement. Ye would likely only take away a small percentage of votes from conservatives, another issue Trump may have with his former supporter.
