Former President Donald Trump is still very popular among his supporters. While much can happen in the next four years, he’s confident his popularity would propel him to the White House once again.
Trump confirmed to Mark Halperin on Newsmax TV this week he “can’t imagine” anyone else winning the presidency if he were to run again in 2024, adding fuel to the rumors that a campaign announcement is imminent.
“I’m not sure that anybody should be able to win, other than us,” Trump told Halperin. “Look, I’ve done a good job for this party. We had the greatest economy in history, and then we rebuilt it a second time.”
Trump touted a recent straw poll taken during the convention that showed he was favored by 55% of respondents to win the primary for 2024, according to the Hill. He handily beat out conservative favorite and lockdown scofflaw Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the hypothetical race.
Although Trump made it clear he was not announcing any plans to run, he acknowledged his support is strong, particularly given the warm reception from the CPAC crowd. “The enthusiasm is, I think even beyond what we had before the election, and we had great election results more than any presidential candidate’s ever gotten, as you know, with the votes, but this crowd is just incredible,” he said. “They love the country and they just want to see it succeed.”
Trump gave the speech rather than leaving it up to other GOP leaders because of his desire to “save our nation” from the current disaster President Joe Biden is creating. “When you look at the border, when you look at what’s happening with energy independence when you look at so many different elements of what they’re doing it will destroy our country,” he said.
He went on to praise CPAC, which is hosted by the political organization American Conservative Union. “They’ve done a fantastic job here,” he said. “I thought it would be a great place to express my views. Everybody wanted to hear it. The crowds outside are incredible. The whole place is just alive with energy. They love our country.”
It isn’t so much that Americans want Trump as it is that they need him now more than ever. Especially given the state of the nation under Biden and the slide into the utter insanity of “woke” leftism, conservatives are hungry for a leader that stands up to the establishment and isn’t afraid to take the slings and arrows for telling the truth — and there’s nobody more qualified for that than Trump.
