Trump administration denies Minnesota appeal for disaster relief funds after riots

Democrat governors and mayors have allowed violence and riots to run rampant in their cities for weeks in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.

In Minneapolis, ground zero for the entire mess, rioters destroyed 1,500 buildings which resulted in over $500 million in damages. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) asked the Trump administration for funds to begin the rebuilding process, but Donald Trump said “no.”

Walz requested that Trump declare Minnesota a “major disaster” area in order to access $16 million worth of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) dollars.

Trump rejected the request after FEMA declared that a “thorough review” of the matter determined that “the impact to public infrastructure is within the capabilities of the local and state governments to recover from.”

Remember, Donald Trump offered to involve the military in order to quell the violence in the twin cities area, but his attempts to prevent the damage were rebuffed.

After the Trump administration opted to require Minnesota leaders to take responsibility for the damage they allowed, the whining began. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey complained that “with local government budgets already stretched thin by the pandemic, the need for compassion and support from the federal level could not be more critical.”

“This decision is another sad reminder that Americans cannot look to this president’s administration for support, even in our darkest hours,” St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter huffed.

At least one Minnesota politician agreed with Trump’s decision, though. Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) said that “If the federal government is expected to assist in the clean-up of these unfortunate weeks, it has an obligation to every American — prior to the release of funding — to fully understand the events which allowed for this level of destruction to occur and ensure it never happens again.”

Of course, Minnesota has no intention of preventing such violence and riots in the future. In fact, Democrat leaders of the state tacitly encouraged violent protesting and have pledged to dismantle police forces in Minneapolis altogether.

Unfortunately for the good people of Minnesota, Democrat leaders cannot be allowed to rely on the safety net of the federal government any longer, and Donald Trump’s decision — though harsh — is a step in the right direction of holding destructive Democrat leaders accountable for their actions.

Way to go Mr. President Hit them dummies hard for allowing the riots and looting to continue. They should not be rewarded or compensated for their stupidity and poor governing of their cities and states. Time for all of the demonrats to be put out to pasture forever once and for all. 100% behind President Trump and will be voting TRUMP 2020.

President Trump offered help to Minnesota and they turned down his help for military aid to Minnesota. It would not have escalated to this degree if they had taken him up on his offer. I stand with President Trump.

Why is it so hard for Democrat Governors and Mayors to understand that actions have consequences, and if they choose to allow their states and cities to be destroyed because they don’t have the backbone and courage to enforce the laws they have sworn to uphold, then lessons need to be learned the hard way. Unfortunately, the unintended consequences hurt the people, but then again, maybe the people are getting what they voted for. Will the people in these poor states and cities get fed up with these antics, or will they continue to feed on the lies and deception from this heinous party. Mr. President, thank you for standing your ground and not giving in to these pathetic cry babies.

Pretty Texas, I like you, who are you and from? I have seen your message on other topics. I agree with You on every single comments about nasty democrats/Pelosi.

It’s their BLMs/people/MOBs and their clans. They are not special people. Now, that’s their problem of course. All police should not help them out. They didn’t want Trumps help and the police help and why should they help bad Democrats/Pelosi’s clans. Poor Pelosi, She is stupid to have her around in my country.

President Trump will be our next president. He will win the re-elections. 😊😊😊😊

They refused help! They allowed a domestic terrorist organization to destroy a large section of the city. They defunded and dismantled Their police who could also have done much to halt the damages. It is therefore THEIR responsibility to pay to fix the damage!

President Trump is absolutely correct to refuse aid. I guess the Democrats think we should pay for everything no matter what. The mayor was a fool kissing the butts of the terrorizing maniacs, now who’s going to pay for that. Ahh people who had nothing to do with it and don’t agree with it. Always a bail out for the angry !
Tough live with it!!

Yes I totally agree. He ask more than once and offered they refused because of being scared of the lefts. They have let all these things happened and the defund police. President Trump has gave everything these states needed when this virus broke out and then stimulus’s checks. Gets doing the right thing a fantastic job. Why should President Trump clean up what they allowed!!!!! Great Job President Trump you are doing.

I totally agree with the president denying the federal money, my money to rebuild what those politicians had the ability to put a stop to. They didn’t ask for help to stop it now you don’t get it to clean it up. No city or state should get funding that allowed and in some cases permitted destruction of property and theft of same. No, no damn way, not a penny.

President Trump is right to deny Minnesota because they did nothing to help their own state, BLM should never have been allowed to rampage over America and Minnesota did nothing to stop the Illegal BLM mess. Thank you President Donald Trump for doing the correct thing again.

Yea, Why should taxpaying Legal Citizens foot the bill of Corrupt Politicians Riots?
Some of the Rioters traveled interstate which makes it a Federal issue so both the POTUS and FEMA were absolutely correct in their decision. National Security and Law Enforcement must be maintained.
Weather Crisis (Tornadoes & Hurricanes) COVID-19, Rioting and a Political messes.
Americans have enough to pay for already.

I agree with President Donald Trump that he wanted to send troops in to quell the violence but the Democrats were in power and refused , so they should be responsible for the damage and the violence that occurred so the Democrats should pay for the damages that they let happen to their cities.

Totally agree with the Presidents decision. These Democrats just can’t do whatever they want without suffering their consequences. It is clear they care nothing for their country let alone the good people of the state that voted them in. These goveners have to be held accountable for their disgraceful actions and should be removed from office, as they have proven they are not fit to govern anything.

It is time that all governors and mayors realize that they have a responsibility to their constituents, and that they cannot expect to have the country pay for their inability, their defiance or their ignorance. Let this be a lesson for all to see what, and more importantly why this happened. Learn to appreciate your Police force and see that this tragedy will not be repeated somewhere else.

Rose Reedy (@guest_1021911)

I agree 100%. The mayor of Minneapolis, as well as the governor of Minnesota, stood by and let the mob destroy the city. They turned down help from President Trump. If they had accepted his help, the “protests” would have been over post haste. I don’t want my tax dollars going to rebuild a city that the people in charge stood by and let be destroyed.

Anna Dailey (@guest_1021912)

over-population and gov’t resources stretched to the limits, not enough taxes being raised ,big democrats controlling the money purse and big gov’t red-tape bureacracy making all the decisions for all the idiots that live in urban blight and destruction . nobody wants to come back to the broken down cities of decay and dangerous inhabitants.why don’t the people living in this urban rot at least pick up trash or a piece of crap on their streets and at least clean-up your neighborhoods, take care of the landscaping and do at least some painting. the places that protesters our fighting about should clean-up first your homeland before you can get any respect from anybody. uncivilized savages never get the respect they want until you at least have a MODICUM OF RESPECT FOR YOURSELVES FIRST THEN MAYBE LEADERS COULD FINALLY LISTEN TO YOUR TAKER MENTALITY complaints. go to school and study hard then get some civic lessons, get some training like trade school and get a job and save your money and stopfollowing those derelict communists that are roaming our american cities destroying everything because their losers.,at least clean-up the junkyard of trash and cars because this is insane living conditions that make it difficult for people to decide to help when it seems that crazed lunatics don’t care about nothing anymore because its all over. i guess its too hard to live anymore that self-destruction takes over. this is where were at
