Trump accuses the Manhattan district attorney of 'prosecutorial misconduct'

At his first 2024 campaign event in Waco, Texas, former President Donald Trump accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of "prosecutorial misconduct" on Saturday.

Considering the possibility of an indictment in the coming days, Trump stated to his supporters gathered at the airport that Democrats are once again employing deceitful means to sabotage his political career by targeting him with yet another "hoax," according to a report by The Daily Wire.

Trump told the gathering that Bragg “is investigating me for something that is not a crime, not a misdemeanor, not an affair,” referring to the investigation into alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election season.

“This is really prosecutorial misconduct,” Trump continued. “The innocence of people makes no difference to these radical left maniacs.”

Trump also claimed that Bragg had "nothing" on him and that the prosecutor “stacked his office with D.C. operatives to make sure that Trump got taken care of.”

The inquiry by Democrat Bragg is one of numerous Trump faces as he launches up his third presidential campaign.

In recent weeks, though, the former president has focused mostly on the New York criminal investigation amid indications that law enforcement is preparing for a probable indictment in that case.

A trio of House Republican chairmen are exchanging public blows with Bragg as they demand communications, documents, and testimony regarding the Trump investigation,

They've also raised concerns that Bragg is caving to the "political pressure" from left-leaning activists and others in order to penalize Trump for an alleged campaign finance violation.

So far, Bragg appears to be resisting their inquiry. “It is not appropriate for Congress to interfere with pending local investigations,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

“This unprecedented inquiry by federal elected officials into an ongoing matter serves only to hinder, disrupt and undermine the legitimate work of our dedicated prosecutors.

"As always, we will continue to follow the facts and be guided by the rule of law in everything we do.”

As talk about Bragg's investigation approaches a fever pitch, Trump contended that his followers see through the "bulls***" as media coverage “adjudicated” the issue, which is similar to comments he made about concerns about the media while he was in office.

“They’re not coming after me,” Trump added. “They’re coming after you, and I’m just standing in their way, and I’m going to be standing in their way for a long time.”
