At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the conventional wisdom was that a vaccine wouldn’t be developed for years. In reality, it was a matter of months thanks to former President Donald Trump.
President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisor admitted it was Trump and his Operation Warp Speed initiative that made a COVID-19 vaccine possible in record time, according to The Blaze. “I would absolutely tip my hat” to him, White House senior advisor Andy Slavitt said.
He told Fox News host Bill Hemmer Thursday that it was a “scientific process that actually began more than a decade ago with scientists inside” the National Institutes of Health. “I think the Trump administration made sure that we got — in record time — a vaccine up and out. That’s a great thing and something we should all be excited about,” Slavitt later acknowledged.
Hemmer pressed him on the way some in the administration were “talking about the shelves being empty” even as they had “1.5 million shots in the arms of Americans” on Inauguration Day. Even Vice President Kamala Harris had told Axios they were starting “from scratch” when Biden took office.
“Look, I don’t think this is an effort to point fingers,” Slavitt replied. Still, Biden used his address to the nation Thursday to insinuate that the previous administration was unprepared. “Two months ago, the country — this country didn’t have nearly enough vaccine supply to vaccinate all or anywhere near all of the American people — public.”
Just the day before Biden’s speech, Trump had released a statement reminding Americans what he’d accomplished. “I hope everyone remembers when they’re getting the COVID-19 (often referred to as the China Virus) Vaccine, that if I wasn’t President, you wouldn’t be getting that beautiful ‘shot’ for 5 years, at best, and probably wouldn’t be getting it at all. I hope everyone remembers!” he wrote.
This statement is one of the reasons I miss President Trump. After four years, he refused to turn into a politician and always told us exactly what he was thinking. It’s still refreshing to me. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/Q2RzRtcbpf

Biden had nothing to run on except a supposedly better plan to fight COVID-19 during the 2020 presidential election, although he never did have anything concrete other than masks and promises to “shut down the virus.” Once he took office, the cracks in that plan quickly emerged, so they swiveled back to blaming Trump.
Many Democrats are gaslighting the American people, pretending the greatest medical marvel in history just didn’t happen. At least Slavitt had the grace to offer the truth — there would be no vaccine without Trump’s leadership.
