"The Wire" and "John Wick" actor Lane Reddick found dead at 60 years old

Actor Lane Reddick died Friday at his California home, the Daily Caller reported. The star of HBO's "The Wire" and "John Wick" franchise fame was 60 years old.

Police found Reddick, who was in the midst of a press junket for "John Wick: Chapter 4," deceased in his Studio City home at about 9:30 in the morning. The cause of death has not been released, but authorities believe it was natural causes.

Reddick was set to appear on the Kelly Clarkson show ahead of the March 24 release of the film. In it, he played tritagonist Charon, a role he reprised from the three previous installments.

The actor was also anticipating the release of a Disney+ series, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians." Other notable roles include films such as "Godzilla vs. Kong," and Angel Has Fallen," as well as TV credits in "Oz," "Lost," Bosch," and "Fringe."

Fans followed Reddick on social media, where he posted often, sharing videos of himself and his dogs. Most recently, Reddick shared a light-hearted post about "dog swag" inspired by "John Wick."

There was nothing on his social media accounts that would indicate he was ill. However, reports noted that Reddick posted to social media from his home Wednesday instead of attending a New York City premiere of his new film.

There is no official word on why he did not attend that event that would seem mandatory. Spokesperson Mia Hansen said only about Reddick's sudden passing that it was from "natural causes," CNN reported.

"Lance will be greatly missed," she added. Wire co-star Wendall Pierce similarly expressed sorrow at Reddick's sudden death, calling him a "man of great strength and grace" in a tweet Friday.

"As talented a musician as he was an actor," Pierce said. As a teenager, Reddick aspired to be a musician before beginning his acting career in his late 20s. "The epitome of class," he added.

"A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones," Pierce said. Reddick left behind his wife, Stephanie Reddick, and children, Christopher Reddick and Yvonne Nicole Reddick.

"Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here," Pierce concluded.

In a joint statement, "John Wick: Chapter Four" co-star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski, extended condolences for his family. "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick," it said.

"He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends," the statement continued. "We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."

It's another tragic story of a Hollywood actor who died suddenly before his time. Reddick contributed to the culture in small but unrepeatable ways, and his absence will be felt for years to come.
