Texas Supreme Court blocks vote-by-mail

The latest Democratic scheme just hit a massive roadblock after the Court intervened to block a plan hatched by Texas Democrats.

The Hill reports:

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday halted the expansion of mail-in voting in the state during the coronavirus pandemic.

The court issued the stay after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) asked the Lone Star State’s top court to take action in a letter earlier this week.

Vote by mail, or “cheat by mail” as it’s been dubbed by Republicans, has been a top priority of Democrats during the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s a strange priority during a pandemic that cries out for competent leadership and innovation to beat a viral enemy.

Strange that is, until you realize that Democrats are still seeing Republicans as a bigger enemy than the virus. For some though doubtless not all, the virus is more of an ally than an enemy, because it gives them a crisis to exploit.

It’s clear that vote by mail is a political priority – not a pandemic necessity, at least not right now, months before the November elections.

Thankfully, the Texas Supreme Court appears to recognize the gravity of the situation. We’ll continue to monitor this issue as it develops in Texas, and in the country at large.
