Playing politics over the bodies of dead children is nothing new for the Democrats. However, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke takes the cake for the most egregious example.
O’Rourke interrupted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s news conference Wednesday following a devastating school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the Conservative Brief reported. The death toll was continuing to mount as the failed presidential and Senatorial candidate pulled his political stunt.
“Gov. Abbott, I have to say something,” O’Rourke said from the crowd to the GOP governor. “The time to stop the next shooting is right now and you are doing nothing,” O’Rourke, a known gun control advocate, shouted at the governor.
The officials, including Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, were attempting to silence O’Rourke, and at one point, the mayor called him a “sick son of a bitch,” Fox News reported. “Sir, you’re out of line,” he said to O’Rourke.
The Democrat continued with his diatribe though most of what he said was inaudible without a microphone. O’Rourke was eventually escorted out of the venue after the disturbance, though that will only contribute to his star power in the eyes of the leftist media.
On Tuesday, an 18-year-old gunman entered a Texas elementary school after shooting his own grandmother, according to CNN. He was holed up in the building for up to an hour before law enforcement finally shot and killed the man.
At the end of his rampage, 19 children and two adults were left dead. Rather than allowing Texas officials to lead their constituents in mourning such a tragedy, O’Rourke chose to make the news conference about himself and his desire to disarm law-abiding Americans.
School children being slaughtered by a madman is horrific no matter how it happened. However, politicians like O’Rourke and other Democrats make it their business to blame guns and pounce on the opportunity to push through their radical gun control agenda. Of all the dirty political tricks, this is the most disgraceful.
