Joe Biden has been counting on all Democrats to rally behind him to beat Trump, but he just got the disastrous news that college Democrats are turning on him.
According to a Campus Reform report, “Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are not sitting well with young voters and could signal a trend shift.”
Democrats and the mainstream media have attempted to run cover for Biden after former staffer Tara Reade came forward with credible claims of sexual assault against Biden in late March.
However, younger voters don’t seem to be buying the establishment’s dismissal of Reade’s story.
Multiple College Democrat and progressive organizations have said they will not support Biden as the Democrat nominee, and others have expressed hesitancy to commit to supporting him in the general election.
A spokesperson for the Carolina Young Democratic Socialists said that “we will not be supporting Joe Biden. The allegations made against him by Tara Reade should be taken seriously, as were those made against Brett Kavanaugh it [sic] Donald Trump.”
Texas College Democrats told Campus Reform that they will support him in the election, but they also believe that “it is incumbent on all of us, as Democrats, to demand that allegations of sexual assault levied against our party’s leaders be investigated fairly.”
Biden has been lagging in voter enthusiasm since the beginning of the race, and if he can’t galvanize young voters into supporting him, it could spell disaster for his campaign against Trump.
