House Democrat members of the Squad — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Cori Bush (D-MO), Ilan OMar (D-MN) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — spent more than $100,000 on private security during the last recorded quarter, all while calling for the defunding of police.
Bush spent $65,000, while Omar rang up $22,000 in private security in just three months, according to FEC records.
Ocasio-Cortez spent more than $10,000, while Pressley invested a much lower nearly $4,000.
In Bush’s case, multiple firms were involved. The massive amount of private security was used by campaign dollars funded by donors.
Despite the large security bills, all of the congresswomen have continued to call for defunding police in various ways.
In August, Bush responded to paying for private security by saying, “I have private security because my body is worth being on this planet right now. I have private security because they, the white supremacist racist narrative that they drive into this country,” according to CBS News.
“You can’t really reform a department that is rotten to the root. What you can do is rebuild,” Rep. Ilhan Omar explains her calls to defund the police departments. “No one is saying crimes will not be investigated.” #CNNSOTU pic.twitter.com/t3q10iJv3C

Omar told CNN last year, “You can’t really reform a department that is rotten to the root,” when asked about defunding the police.
The contradictory claims and practices continue to reveal the hypocrisy of the Squad as they advocate defunding the police.
