Some Democrats seek to disqualify Trump from running for president in 2024

Some Democrats are reportedly seeking to disqualify former President Donald Trump from running in 2024 as he continues to speculate about a White House comeback.

The group of Democrats is seeking to use the 14 Amendment that would use the claim of Trump’s “insurrection” as evidence to keep him from running for future office.

“It’s unclear what mechanism would be used to apply Section 3 to Trump. Some experts say the House and Senate could vote by a simple majority to find the 45th president engaged in insurrection against the government. Others, including Tribe, say the determination would need to be made by a federal court or a neutral fact-finding body,” the New York Post reported.

Another strategy would be to push state election officials to remove Trump from the ballot.

Trump was impeached in the House just days before his term ended in 2020. The Senate did not pass the count and acquitted him from the incitement charge.

As 2021 turns to 2022, the focus seems to shift from what Trump did to stopping his future plans to run for office.

The left’s pursuit is increasingly based on political fears of the future, especially as the party sees hope to retain power in the House slipping away as the 2022 midterms near.
