U.S. Border Patrol released shocking footage showing an abandoned immigrant 10-year-old boy found wandering alone in an isolated part of Texas last week — a stark reminder of the devastating cause by the Biden administration’s negligence.
The video was recorded by an off-duty officer on his way home. The child can be seen asking in Spanish, “They can rob me, kidnap me, I’m scared.”
“I was walking with a group and they left me behind, and I don’t know where they’re at,” the boy stated to the officer.
Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Chief Brian Hastings shared the video with CNN “to underscore the concern over the danger associated with the increase in unaccompanied children” crossing into the U.S.
The boy was taken into custody just one day after Border Patrol released footage of traffickers dropping a pair of preschool-aged sisters from the 14-foot border wall and leaving them. The children were taken into care, but revealed the dire concerns some children are facing at the border.
Problems have grown on the Mexican side of the border as well. On Mar. 31, Mexican immigration authorities found a 3-year-old Honduran boy left alone near the Rio Grande River. His father later showed up to claim him from authorities.
The report noted that through Mar. 25, 4,440 immigrant children have been found in Mexico so far this year. “Migrants have told federal immigration agents that ‘the guides’ suggest they travel with children, because it is easier to get into the United States,” the National Immigration Institute said.
The Biden administration now holds more than 18,000 immigrant youth in custody. The total is seven times higher than the top number during former President Donald Trump’s time in office.
Immigration continues to serve as a divisive and growing issue across the nation. Unfortunately, children are often the ones enduring the worst of the situation, leaving Border Patrol to operate in ways far beyond their usual job description.
