A Democrat bill that would have allowed abortion for almost any reason up to nine months of pregnancy was defeated on Wednesday in a 51-49 vote.
Democrats’ defeated abortion bill had “Women’s” in its title, but characteristically avoided any mention of ‘women,’ ‘woman,’ or ‘female’ in its text: https://t.co/I2us8QPiZH

The Women’s Health Protection Act was voted down by all 50 Republicans and West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.
“Our Democrat colleagues want to vote for abortion on demand through all nine months, until the moment before the baby is born — a failed show vote that will only prove their own [extremism],” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said.
Oddly, the act intentionally removed the words “woman,” “women,” and “female,” from the bill, instead using the word person to refer to those who can have a child.
The bill was pushed for a vote despite an expected loss as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wanted every senator on record regarding the issue.
After Democrats lied to Americans and claimed that their radical “Women’s Health Protection Act” was merely “codifying Roe,” Republicans in the Senate — joined by WV Dem Joe Manchin — defeated the bill on Wednesday afternoon in a 51-49 vote.https://t.co/lVJMNhgR4s

The new bill will now rest as the Supreme Court prepares to release a ruling that could send laws about abortion back to the states.
