Democrats are crowing about the polls that show Donald Trump slipping to second place behind Joe Biden, but they’re not talking about their failing campaign to take back the Republican-controlled Senate.
Democrats took yet another devastating blow on that front when it was revealed that the Democrat challenger to GOP Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) was caught openly sexually harassing one of his own female staffers via text message so badly that she was forced to quit.
Chris Janicek, who is hoping to unseat Sasse in November, reportedly sent sexually explicit text messages to some of his staffers in a group chat, repeatedly indirectly sexually harassing one of the group chat members.
The Daily Caller reported:
The text messages, first obtained by the Associated Press, reportedly show Janicek was texting a group chat that included the female staffer. He asked the group chat if his campaign should spend money on “getting her laid.
He also reportedly described a group sex scene involving the female staffer “in graphic detail,” according to AP.
“It will probably take three guys,” Janicek wrote. Shortly after he tried to say the comments were “a joke” and apologized for his comments. “I’m going on no sleep and a bunch of exuberant excitement and I think I was out of line,” he added.
The female staffer that was the subject of his disgusting comments called him out, responding to the messages, “You are my boss and a candidate running for Senate, (an) office held by just 100 Americans representing approximately 330 million of her people.”
“There is zero tolerance for what you said.” She said she will no longer work for or support Janicek’s campaign.
The state’s Democrat party has also be forced to pull their support for his campaign in the wake of the scandal. “Our Democratic Party has no tolerance for sexual harassment,” said state Democratic Party Chairwoman Jane Kleeb in a statement. “Our party will not extend resources or any type of support to any candidate that violates our code of conduct and doesn’t treat men and women with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
Janicek has yet to deny making the comments and only said that he had expected his crude and inappropriate remarks would have been kept private.
