South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott said on Wednesday that the U.S. needs to realize its national security is closely connected with its energy independence.
Scott shared the comments during an interview on Fox News’ “America Reports.”

“I’ll say this without any question, when you think about importing over 600,000 barrels of oil at over $100 per barrel, you are talking about $60 million American dollars being pumped into the Russian economy,” Scott said.
“Had we went forward with the Keystone pipeline and had 800,000 barrels coming into our country over the next several months or years, we would be able to eliminate any dependence on Russian energy. This is a catastrophic decision that Biden made on his first day in office,” he added.
Scott also took to Twitter this week to express his concerns on the matter.
“This administration’s war on energy is jeopardizing our national security,” he wrote.

The concerns in growing oil prices continue to impact everyday Americans as well, showing how Biden’s policies harm those he claims to be looking out for as president.
