'Saving Private Ryan' actor Tom Sizemore dead at 61

Earlier this month, actor Tom Sizemore of Saving Private Ryan fame made headlines after it was revealed that he'd suffered a brain aneurysm and was admitted to the hospital.

Sadly, Sizemore wasn't able to recover, having passed away last week at the age of 61, The Washington Times reported.

The Times noted: "The actor had suffered a brain aneurysm on Feb. 18 at his home in Los Angeles. He died in his sleep Friday at a hospital in Burbank, California, his manager Charles Lago said."

Though he had a short run of high popularity, with films like Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor, Sizemore eventually burnt out of the Hollywood life with scores of domestic violence issues and substance abuse issues.

Tom Sizemore's career was plagued by numerous scandals and run-ins with the law. He has struggled with substance abuse and has been arrested multiple times for drug-related offenses.

Despite his talent as an actor, Sizemore's personal demons clearly often overshadowed his professional accomplishments. His erratic behavior on set and off-camera antics caused disruptions and delays during film productions, according to reports.

In 2003, Sizemore was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss. He was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to attend counseling and perform community service.

Sizemore's career suffered a significant blow after the Fleiss incident, and he struggled to find work in Hollywood. He turned to reality television and appeared on shows like Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and The Surreal Life.

Despite his troubled past, Sizemore continued to act in films and television shows. He has expressed remorse for his past behavior and has credited his sobriety with helping him turn his life around.

Sizemore made friends in the business and his acting built a loyal fan following. Many reached out on social media with their condolences.

"I start a new movie next week in N. Carolina and I was going to be acting along with Tom Sizemore. Bummer. RIP, Tom," Kevin Sorbo tweeted.
