Russia admits use of vacuum bombs in Ukraine, UK report claims

Russia confirmed its use of a thermobaric bomb, also known as a vacuum bomb, in its invasion of Ukraine, according to the U.K. Ministry of Defense on Wednesday.

“The impact of the [TOS-1A] is devastating,” the UK Ministry of Defense said in a video, according to Fox News.

“It can destroy infrastructure and cause significant damage to internal organs and flash burns, resulting in death to those exposed,” it added.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) discussed Russia’s use of vacuum bombs in a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, according to the report.

“We talked about weapons that Putin is using, weapons prohibited in the Geneva Conventions, including cluster bombs and vacuum bombs, which caused severe suffering,” Pelosi said.

The disturbing news adds to the concerns over Russia’s invasion of the former Soviet republic that has led to numerous sanctions.
