Ron DeSantis announces his wife is now cancer-free

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has had his share of battles over public health. However, the Republican’s family is fighting a personal health battle at the same time — and winning.

The governor announced Thursday that his wife, Casey DeSantis, is “now considered cancer-free,” Breitbart reported. The first lady of Florida was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2021 after receiving both surgery and treatment.

“I have a positive update about my wife Casey DeSantis,” Ron DeSantis said in a video posted to social media. “After going through both treatment and surgery for breast cancer, she is now considered cancer-free,” he stated.

“All of you who have had thoughts and prayers that have been given to my family and my wife, just want you to know: Thank you for doing that,” the governor told supporters. “It has lifted her spirits, it has made a tremendous difference,” he added.

“And for all the women out there who are going through breast cancer right now, you can overcome this, I know it’s very difficult, but my wife is proof positive,” DeSantis said. “If you wound back six or seven months, this is exactly the type of news that we had hoped for,” the governor continued.

“She still has more to do, but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery,” DeSantis explained. “Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers and God bless you all,” the governor said.

DeSantis is fighting this personal battle as he still wrestles publicly with the COVID-19 mask crusaders. The governor sent the leftist media into a tailspin Wednesday after telling high school students appearing with him that they could remove their masks, Fox News reported.

This is wonderful news for the DeSantis family, but also for the people of Florida. The Sunshine State has been a beacon of freedom throughout the pandemic and thereafter. They need their leader to remain at the helm, and America needs Florida to continue paving the way back to liberty for all. Thank God Casey DeSantis is on her way to recovery.
