Republicans are reversing Joe Biden's block on mining in Minnesota

House Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee have advanced two measures that will reverse President Joe Biden's block on mining in Minnesota.

The measure will open up development in Minnesota's Superior National Forest. The Twin Metals mining project will cover 225,504 acres and the Biden administration's decision to withdraw authorization would have locked up the land for the next twenty years.

Both measures were introduced by Representative Pete Stauber (R-MN) and with the Senate's support, one measure won't even need President Biden's signature.

The first measure will disapprove Biden's withdrawal of the lease while the second will reinstate the two mineral leases that will allow the Twin Metals mining project to proceed.

Contradictory policy

President Joe Biden has been a nightmare for jobs as he his administration has killed multiple massive projects that would have created thousands of blue collar jobs.

Whats worse is the Biden administration's refusal to exploit the nation's mineral reserves complicates Biden's climate change policy.

Without using our resources, we rely on foreign minerals to create car batteries and other technology that is needed for the Biden administration's war on climate change. Most of those materials would have to be sourced from China.

China dominates the mineral market for lithium, nickel, cobalt and graphite which are all critical to making batteries for electric cars.

The Twin Metals mining project will extract copper, nickel, cobalt, and platinum metals which will help ease the stranglehold that China has on key minerals.

Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) said, "Producing minerals domestically is critical to meeting the administration's own renewable energy goals, yet the Biden administration has fought these safe American mining opportunities at every turn."

Good news for blue collar workers

The Twin Metals mining project promises to create thousands of good blue collar jobs which is great news for Americans.

Furthermore, the project lies outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which environmental activists claim could be damaged by industry.

However, modern technology and regulation should prevent any mine activity from damaging the protected area. Obviously that didn't stop the Biden administration from trying to shut down the project.

One would think President Biden would be eager to extract resources for his climate change agenda but its possible that Chinese influence is the reason for why he has been working to keep American minerals in the ground.

Relying on China for our minerals is a terrible idea and it's time to employ Americans and bring our supply chains home.
