Republican Roger Marshall begins impeachment process against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) made the first moves to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his unwillingness to secure the border, the Washington Examiner reported. Marshall introduced a vote of the no-confidence resolution Thursday.

Marshall railed against Mayorkas for the illegal immigration that continues unabated at the U.S. border with Mexico.  The Kansas lawmaker said told Mayoraks he would be "derelict" in his duty if he didn't pursue action against the Biden administration official.

"There isn’t one American who believes our southern border is secure," Marshall said in a news release. "In the real world, if you fail at your job, you get fired — the federal government should be no different."

The resolution pointed to Mayorkas's many failures, including an explosion of illegal drugs coming over the border leading to more overdoses. The nine-page document pointed to some 15,000 Haitians who showed up near the border with Texas.

While all of this was happening, Mayorkas insisted to Congress that he had the problem under control, which Marshall's resolution claims was a lie. Still, Mayorkas contends that the Secure Fence Act of 2006, by which his success would be measured, creates an unrealistic standard that has never been achieved.

"The Secure Fence Act provides that operational control means that not a single individual crosses the border illegally," Mayorkas claimed. "And it’s for that reason that prior secretaries and myself have said that under that definition, no administration has had operational control," he said.

"As I have testified under oath multiple times, we use a lens of reasonableness in defining operational control. Are we maximizing the resources that we have to deliver the most effective results? And under that definition, we are doing so very much to gain operational control," Mayorkas said.

Marshall's resolution is unlikely to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate. While it does not include any impeachment triggers, it's a substantial move against Mayorkas in the upper chamber.

Meanwhile, the GOP-led House of Representatives has made moves toward impeachment. Earlier this year, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, NBC News reported.

"The founders said that you have impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors — that’s constitutional," Biggs said. "They didn’t say you have to be convicted of a felony," he pointed out.

"What they said is you have a public official who has violated public trust, and there is nobody who typifies that more, in my opinion, than Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas," Biggs said. Mayoraks continued to defend his inaction and incompetence.

"Within a broken system, we are doing everything that we can to increase its efficiency, to provide humanitarian relief when the law permits and to also deliver an enforcement consequence when the law dictates," Mayorkas said at the time. "That is exactly what we are doing. And as far as I am concerned, I will continue to do that with tremendous pride in the people with whom I work."

However, illegal immigration has continued to grow, and border states are now bracing for another influx after Title 42 expires on May 11, Fox News reported. The pandemic-era provision had allowed the government to turn away border crossers based on public health concerns.

Mayoraks has not done his stated job of stopping illegal immigration. However, he's doing exactly what the Democratic Party wants as they use illegal immigration to create a permanent impoverished voter base.
