Fox News obtained exclusive confirmation that the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden regarding taxes and foreign transactions continues is still open, to the shock of many expecting the president to quietly axe the probe.
The Delaware attorney’s office continues to move forward with its investigation and is “treating it seriously.” So far, they report no response from the White House concerning the case.
The report follows last week’s confirmation hearing of Judge Merrick Garland before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Garland is President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Justice Department.
Garland was questioned about the Hunter Biden investigation during his nomination hearing. He reported not yet discussing the matter with the president, acknowledging prosecutions would be left to the Justice Department.
Hunter Biden’s investigation arose following a Suspicious Activity Reports concerning foreign transactions. The funds included “China and other foreign nation,” according to the report.
The Daily Caller notes,
The U.S. attorney for Delaware, David Weiss, who oversees the federal tax investigation, was asked by the Biden Administration to stay in his role though previous Trump-appointed prosecutors were asked to resign.Though Weiss has been asked to stay in his role, other U.S. attorneys, such as Special Counsel John Durham, who served as the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, have resigned.
Hunter Biden has maintained his innocence and has agreed to cooperate with the investigation, stating he is taking “this matter very seriously.”
Whether Hunter Biden takes the matter seriously or not, the investigation remains serious. China’s influence in America strikes much concern within the government, requiring diligent effort to determine the facts in the ongoing investigation.
