Report: Liberal dark money network seeks to dictate Biden’s SCOTUS pick

As the country awaits President Joe Biden’s selection to fill the vacancy to be created by Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s impending retirement, alarming revelations are emerging about the liberal dark money powerhouse working to exert significant influence on the eventual outcome of his deliberations, as the New York Post reports.

Arabella Advisors, founded by former Clinton administration operative Eric Kessler, oversees a group of five distinct nonprofits that work to fund a host of progressive issue campaigns and other advocacy efforts, and, because it does not directly provide resources to political candidates, donors to the network are legally permitted to remain anonymous.

It is worth noting that, as the Post explains, the Arabella umbrella has links to influential figures in just about every critical issue area under discussion in the U.S. government today, and it is difficult to find any federal agency lacking officials with ties to it.

The entire situation is, according to conservative watchdogs at the Judicial Crisis Network (JCN), problematic in a number of ways, particularly in that Arabella-affiliated activists groups are currently attempting to dictate Biden’s pick for the highest court in the land, as Fox News notes.

According to JCN, Arabella Advisors โ€“ through its dark money branches such as the Hopewell Fund, New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, North Fund, and Windward Fund โ€“ channeled roughly $1.2 billion in 2020 to leftist organizations that helped elect Biden as well as Democrat Senators, and as such, will be expecting the favor to be repaid in the form of a liberal SCOTUS nominee.

“A record amount of dark money, over a billion, put them in office. So they’ll put up an Arabella Judge, a liberal activist, a Biden rubber stamp. A huge sum. A huge payback,” explains JCN ad spot that is set to air around the country as well as in Washington, D.C. amid the Supreme Court nomination and confirmation process.

Far-left advocacy group Demand Justice, which has its origins as an initiative of the Sixteen Thirty Fund, has been particularly vocal in recent months about its vision for the direction of the Supreme Court, pushing for Democrats to expand and pack the panel with liberal justices as well as for Breyer to step down to make way for someone progressives view as an ideologically suitable replacement.

As JCN president Carrie Severino explains, “Left-wing dark money groups in the Arabella Advisors network spent a jaw-dropping amount of money in 2020 to help elect Joe Biden and Senate Democrats,” adding, “[n]ow that they have a vacancy, they want payback for their dark money spending in the form of a Supreme Court justice who will be a rubber stamp for their unpopular and far-left political agendas.”

Whether Arabella Advisors will indeed exact its pound of flesh from Biden as the nomination process plays out is something that remains to be seen, but given the president’s proven willingness to kowtow to his party’s most radical elements, the group’s chances of success in this realm appear, regrettably, quite strong.
