President Joe Biden is barely trying to hide that he’s not in charge as he shifts responsibilities away from him. Now, one issue in particular seems to be the realm of Vice President Kamala Harris who is as radical as they come.
Harris is expected to announce executive orders shortly that would effectuate gun control, The Washington Times reported. While it is unlikely that an assault rifle ban would be part of what’s announced next week, the White House has dubbed them “major actions.”
During the 2020 Democratic primaries, Biden said that he wouldn’t be able to enact an assault weapons ban using only executive action. Harris, at the time also vying for the nomination, told Biden on the debate stage, “I would just say, hey Joe, instead of saying, ‘No, we can’t,’ let’s say, ‘Yes, we can!’”
The vice president has given every indication that she supports the left’s most anti-gun stances. She’s made it clear during that run that she wanted to ban certain semi-automatic weapons, implement a “mandatory buyback” on legal weapons — or rather confiscation with compensation — and stop imports of certain weapons.
Harris also said during her run that she would use executive action to get some of her most radical policies rammed through if Congress failed to act within her first 100 days as president. It looks as though she may have the chance riding Biden’s coattails into a position that will allow her to make it happen, or at least open the floodgates.
During her time as district attorney in California, Harris made it clear she did not support the Second Amendment. In fact, she signed onto a U.S. Supreme Court amicus curiae brief that found citizens don’t have a right to keep and bear arms and that local and state governments don’t need to abide by it.
The only positive of her actions this time is that Harris is actually taking care of an issue she was charged with solving. Despite being given the task over two weeks ago, Harris has yet to visit the border even as the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate there.
Harris is a radical and Biden has mostly checked out from his own administration. The combination of the two may spell disaster for Americans who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights. It’s only a matter of time until the administration finds a way to severely limit Americans’ rights.
