Report: Joe Biden cabinet nominee once attacked him in private email

Former Vice President Joe Biden — the media-declared president-elect — and his transition team have spent the last week or so generating headlines by announcing their selections for key positions in what could be an incoming Biden administration.

However, according to Fox News, his pick to head up the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, is controversial in many ways and on Monday, she became even more controversial after someone uncovered a 2015 email in which she completely trashed Biden during former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential run.

Tanden, who is best known for her role as the CEO of the ultra-liberal Center for American Progress think tank, was also a former policy director during Hillary Clinton’s first run for the White House.

The email in question, which was from October 2015, addressed from Tanden to former Bill Clinton chief of staff John Podesta, made clear in no uncertain terms that she had zero confidence in Biden’s run for the presidency at the time.

“The good thing about a Biden run is that he would make Hillary look so much better,” Tanden wrote. “What a mess today. Thanks for today and last night.”

Fox News believes that the “mess” she referenced in the email concerned an event honoring former Vice President Walter Mondale at the time at which Biden was critical of Hillary Clinton.

Interestingly, just a day after Tanden’s email was sent, Biden announced that he wouldn’t be competing with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

According to Politico, it seems as if Tanden will cause somewhat of a rift in the party if she’s confirmed, as the progressive wing of the party who is extremely unhappy with the selection, as they blame Tanden for her role in tanking Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 Democratic primary run.

Tanden’s history of bashing Biden, attacking Sanders and Republicans firmly against her as a Cabinet pick could generate just enough controversy for Biden to select someone else for the ultra-important government role — something we can all hope and pray he does.
