Former President Donald Trump spent half of his presidency defending himself from the Russia collusion hoax. Now the people responsible may end up paying the price — but is it too little, too late?
Special counsel John Durham may have uncovered a carefully constructed conspiracy to create the Russiagate scandal courtesy of the Hillary Clinton campaign, the Washington Examiner reported. This first indictment may be the key to unlocking others.
A former Trump administration official, Kash Patel, thinks the indictment of former Perkins Coie law firm attorney Michael Sussman may be the key to unraveling the conspiracy. Patel was instrumental in crafting a memo about the possible abuses against former President Donald Trump.
Sussman has been indicted on charges he lied to the FBI. He had turned over supposed technological evidence linking former President Donald Trump to Russian operatives who wanted to influence the 2016 presidential election.
When he turned over evidence that Trump was allegedly communicating with the Russians through Alfa Bank, he did not disclose that he was being paid by the Clinton campaign. However, documents show that he billed the campaign for the meeting with the feds.
Sussman has pleaded not guilty, but the indictment contains the keys to how the scandal came about. “Sussman is the centerpiece for these allegations because he ties the Hillary Clinton campaign to Fusion GPS to Christopher Steele to the Department of Justice and the false information they fed to the FBI and DOJ to spy on the presidential campaign,” Patel said.
The Steele dossier was the excuse to open the Russia collusion probe, according to The Hill. It was meant to distract the public from the fact that then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s illegal use of a private email server.
Those that had a hand in what may prove to be a massive scandal should be brought to justice. However, Trump was distracted for the first half of his presidency with this nonsense and suffered damage to his reputation — and there’s no way to truly restore what was lost in that.
