Report confirms that some Democrats do not want Biden running in '24, but keep quiet out of fear

Politics aside, any reasonably honest person could look at President Joe Biden at this point and admit that he'll be lucky to finish his first term, let alone run for and win another term.

According to the Daily Caller, there are a growing number of Democrats behind the curtain who are very much against the idea of the frail, unimpressive president wasting a campaign in 2024.

The Daily Caller noted:

Several Democratic representatives told Politico that Biden shouldn’t run again at the National Governor’s Association’s winter meeting, citing his advanced age and limited ability to campaign, but all but one of them refused to make their comments on the record.

It's understandable that they'd be concerned. Even before we knew just how bad Biden's overall functions would get, remember that he essentially had to run a "basement campaign" during his 2020 run.

Now, with a few more hard years on him, combined with what appears to any observer to be an obvious case of some level of cognitive decline, running in 2024 would probably require medical science that hasn't even been invented yet.

While most Democrats will not go on record saying as such, a brave few have repeatedly gone on record to admit that Biden's simply too old.

"It’s fear, plain and simple," Democratic Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips told Politico of why more Democrats won't come out and tell the truth about the president. "People are focused on self-preservation and their aspirations."

Here's the crazy part: There are other Dems who are scared to death that if Biden doesn't run, then Vice President Kamala Harris will presume to be the party's nominee, which would mean virtually a guaranteed defeat in 2024.

"Nobody wants to be the one to do something that would undermine the chances of a Democratic victory in 2024," Rep. Phillips added. "Yet in quiet rooms the conversation is just the opposite — we could be at a higher risk if this path is cleared."

In other words, the Democratic Party has a serious crisis on its hands for 2024. They'll have to be forced to back the "big guy" if he somehow manages to make it through his first term and run again, or they'll have to back Harris, while at the same time there are dozens of younger, potentially stronger candidates waiting for a shot on the left side.

The Daily Caller added:

One Democratic House member told Politico that Biden should run for reelection before going off the record, having the reporter turn his phone off and explaining that Harris was not an option. Another member privately admitted to trying to convince First Lady Jill Biden that her husband shouldn’t run again.

You read that correctly: there are now officially Democrats attempting to convince the first lady not to let her husband run again. Yeah, I'd say that's quite the problem for the Dems.

President Biden continues to garner humiliating approval numbers. He currently hovers somewhere in the mid to upper 30s. The vice president's numbers on most issues are also in the tank.

It'll be quite interesting to see if the DNC can manage to boot out Biden, and Harris, so that it might have a chance at winning in '24 with virtually anyone but them.
