Rep. Ted Budd wins Senate primary in landslide after Trump endorsement

Democrats assumed that their antics would destroy former President Donald Trump’s reputation and reach. They were sorely mistaken.

Rep. Ted Budd, who was endorsed by Trump, has won the U.S. Senate primary in a landslide, Breitbart reported. The North Carolina Republican had clinched 56% of the vote compared to his closest competitor, former Gov. Pat McCrory, who secured 27%.

The Senate seat was up for grabs because of Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-NC) impending retirement. It’s notable that Burr, who was one of the seven Republicans who sided with Democrats in Trump’s impeachment, will be replaced by one of the former president’s picks.

The special run-off election only required the winner to earn 30% of the vote, which helped officials call Budd’s decisive win early. Besides his endorsement from Trump last summer, Budd has had the help of the conservative Club for Growth Action, which campaigned hard against McCrory.

“Club for Growth PAC is proud to have played a role in helping Rep. Ted Budd secure the nomination,” Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh said of the win for Budd. “North Carolina voters understood that Budd was the only principled conservative in the race and he will stand up to Biden’s radical socialist agenda.”

The general election will now be a faceoff between Budd and former chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court Cheri Beasley on the Democratic side. Beasley has attempted to paint herself as a moderate ala Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), but Budd has called her out as a “radical” for her leftist judicial record.

With months to go before the general election, Budd is currently polling ahead of Beasley 48% to 41%, with one in ten registered voters still undecided. Still, Trump-endorsed candidates have been sweeping their races and will likely do well against the failing Democrats come November.

Democrats have never understood the bond Trump has with his voters. They thought their usual dirty tricks would diminish Trump’s political power — now it seems they’ve only cemented his role as a party leader.

Despite an INCREDIBLE RECORD OF SUCCESSFUL ENDORSEMENTS producing (at last count) 83 wins for Trump endorsed candidates vs. 3 loses, the media talking heads continue to talk of “challenges” to Trump’s role as the LEADER of the Republican Party. The anti-Trump crowd NEVER stops LYING in their attempts to damage Trump – and that includes some at FoxNews!
