Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert blasted California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell during a House floor speech Wednesday over his relationship with an alleged Chinese spy.
The attack came over a vote to censure Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar who was removed from committee assignments for posting a video to social media portraying him killing New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Boebert used the opportunity to hit back over past Democratic issues.
“My colleague, and three-month presidential candidate from California, who is on the Intelligence Committee, slept with ‘Fang Fang,’ a Chinese spy,” Boebert said.
“Let me say that again, a member of Congress who receives classified briefings was sleeping with the enemy, this is unacceptable.”

Swalwell has not confirmed a romantic relationship with the alleged agent known as Fang Fang. Fang reportedly had multiple relationships with other political leaders.
In 2020, Republican lawmakers sought to remove Swalwell from the Intelligence Committee over the ties, but to no success, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats pushed back on the request.
Boebert has brought the issue to the forefront again, if only to show that Republicans are not the only ones worth investigating in Congress.
