Rep. Omar forced to walk back misinformation-filled posts about Gaza hospital strike

Not surprisingly, members of the anti-Israel "Squad" have really stepped in it after the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel last week that left thousands injured, dead, kidnapped and tortured in unspeakable ways.

The latest twist in the developing situation was the reported hospital bombing earlier this week. Early media reports suggested hundreds had been killed and many outlets directly or indirectly placed blame on Israel, painting Israel as the aggressor.

That narrative was quickly debunked, and as further investigation took place, along with timestamped video proof, it turned out that the missile that struck near the hospital was a misfired or faulty rocket fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.

Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) had a field day blaming the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for the explosion, which as it would later be revealed, killed only a fraction of the original number.

"Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific," she originally wrote on X. "@POTUS needs to push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter."

Given the overwhelming evidence that the IDF was not responsible for the attack, Omar was eventually forced to walk back her original inflammatory comments that were based on false or non-existent information, the Washington Examiner reported.

"Our office cited an AP report yesterday that the IDF had hit a Baptist hospital in Gaza. Since then, the IDF denied responsibility and the US intelligence assessment is that this was not done by Israel," Omar wrote.

She added, "It is a reminder that information is often unreliable and disputed in the fog of war (especially on Twitter where misinformation is rampant). We all have a responsibility to ensure information we are sharing is from credible sources and to acknowledge as new reports come in."

Other Squad members, like Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a Palestinian American, also released strong, misinformation-filled statements regarding the situation after it happened.

She even attacked Biden in the statement for not pushing for a "ceasefire."

"Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that," Tlaib said. "[President Biden] this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate. Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims Americans like me. We will remember where you stood," Tlaib wrote.

It's truly sickening what some of our elected officials, especially the radical, progressive Dems of the Squad, will say for retweets, fundraising, and clicks.
