Dr. Anthony Fauci has a lot to answer for when it comes to gain of function research grants. The U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director and current chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden has recently landed in the hot seat over potential lies about it — and lawmakers are not backing down.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has called Fauci an “enemy” to America and the world, the Washington Examiner reported. The controversial lawmaker also called for his imprisonment while speaking to Steve Bannon Wednesday on his “War Room Pandemic” podcast.
“How dare he use our tax dollars to create some sort of disgusting evil science that has killed so many people all over the world and fund it with our tax dollars?” Greene said. “This man is an enemy to our nation. He’s an enemy to the world because he played a major role in creating a bioweapon, which is COVID-19,” she charged.
Greene spoke about watching the now infamous exchange between Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Fauci during a hearing Tuesday. Paul confronted Fauci on the National Institutes of Health grants given to the Wuhan Institute of Virology that conducted gain of function research, which some blame for the emergence of the novel coronavirus.
Paul pressed him on how the NIH could support this research that may have been the same technology that unleashed the novel coronavirus into the world. “Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about, and I want to say that officially,” Fauci shot back.
This left Greene angry with Fauci. “I go in there and, to my shock and dismay, senators are treating this man like he’s some sort of hero, and this is the man that pushed for the science, his experiment of gain a function, which took a virus that was spread between animals and turned it into, like, a Dr. Frankenstein-style virus,” she said. “Dr. Fauci is sitting center state, the star of the show, running his own live human experiment, and it’s happening all over the world,” she claimed.
“This is the greatest part of his life,” Greene said. “He is living his dream, living his dream, while people all over the world are getting sick and dying.”
If the NIH was providing money for this type of research, and if Fauci knowingly lied about it, he should face consequences. At the very least, Fauci has no place in the high echelons of the U.S. government.
