In the latest example of infuriating pandemic hypocrisy among liberal lawmakers, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was recently caught enjoying a bit of rest and relaxation in the mandate-free state of Florida, despite hailing from one of the strictest mitigation zones in the country and blaming Republicans for alleged laxity on coronavirus safeguards, as Fox News reports.
In exclusive photos from the Daily Mail, Swalwell was seen hoisting his baby son aloft while speaking with another patron of a swanky Miami hotel, but despite his continued hardline stance against anyone who dares question the left’s pandemic mandates, he was not sporting any type of facial covering.
It was just days prior to his journey to the Sunshine State that Swalwell was excoriating Republicans for supposedly prolonging the pandemic and causing vacations to be canceled, a return to online for kids, and a need for going “back to masks everywhere.”
Swalwell’s overwrought expressions of alarm at those he accused of exacerbating the pandemic, however, appeared to disappear once he felt the warmth of his winter holiday destination, donned his shorts and boat shoes, and did precisely as he pleased, behavior in keeping with the “do as I say, not as I do” crowd with which he identifies.
Of course, the California liberal was not alone in his staggeringly hypocritical conduct, as far-left firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was also recently seen gallivanting maskless in Florida on multiple occasions.
Having escaped the record-breaking case rates in her home state, Ocasio-Cortez appeared to be fully availing herself of Florida’s liberties when she was photographed enjoying a maskless cocktail at Doraku Izakaya and Sushi in Miami just before the new year began.
Not long after, she was again spotted flouting the COVID-19 mitigation edicts for which she and her party colleagues are famous, showing up at a crowded Miami drag bar to schmooze with legions of adoring bar-goers – most of whom also eschewed masks during the festivities, according to the New York Post.
Brandon Leslie, a reporter who first exposed Ocasio-Cortez’s visit to the drag bar, blasted the legislator’s “Rules for thee but not for me” attitude and later responded to her defenders by saying, “for those of you with zero sense of humor: the whole point of this post is to expose hypocrisy” and adding, “we don’t actually care she’s maskless. We care she fear mongers about Florida but then has the audacity to vacation here.”
Despite having taken the brunt of months of insults and slanderous attacks from liberal politicians over his sensible – and successful – handling of the pandemic, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis maintained his good humor in the wake of the AOC flap, saying, “If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man, let me tell ya.”
