NY Rep. joins calls for Schiff to resign after Russia investigation transcripts released

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) is back in the spotlight after documents revealing the true intent of the Russia collusion investigation have come to light.

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) called for House leadership to remove Schiff from his position as committee chairman and demanded for Schiff’s resignation from Congress today.

As chair of the intelligence committee, Schiff is responsible for the delayed release of 53 transcripts of testimony from the Russia collusion investigation.

After finally caving to the pressure to release the documents, Schiff came under fire for his misrepresentation of the investigation’s findings — findings that, up until last week, were hidden from the public.

Zeldin, in a Fox News interview on Monday, declared under no uncertain terms that Schiff should not be allowed to continue as the committee’s chairman.

“Adam Schiff should not be the chair of the House Intelligence Committee. His gavel should be removed. He should be censured. He should resign,” Zeldin said.

“There’s a lot that should happen, but [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi isn’t going to punish Adam Schiff. In fact, that’s the reason why he has the gavel in the first place.”

“He’s the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, which became the House Impeachment Committee because of the way he writes these fairy-tale parodies,” Zeldin continued, adding that because Schiff’s behavior is “rewarded” by Democrats, “I’m not going to expect any repercussions.”

Zeldin isn’t the only one to call for Shiff’s resignation following the documents’ release. Fox Host Tucker Carlson said last week that Schiff’s years of lying about the findings of the investigation prove that “Adam Schiff is a sociopath. He will do or say anything to achieve power. He is unfit to hold office. He should resign.”
