Rand Paul delivers Fauci searing statement as he retires

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) offered a searing statement against Anthony Fauci, who recently declared he has "no regrets" about his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Paul shared his thoughts in a recent Fox News interview in reaction to Fauci.

Paul's comments

"Likely there is no public figure, or public health figure, that has made a greater error in judgment than Dr. Fauci," Paul told Fox News host Jesse Watters last week.

"The error in judgment was to fund gain-of-function research in a totalitarian country — fund research that allowed them to create super viruses that, in all likelihood, accidentally leaked into the public and caused seven million people to die," Paul, who frequently clashed with Fauci during Senate oversight hearings into Fauci's responses and recommendations regarding the pandemic, added.

There's more

Paul and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) also co-wrote a strong op-ed last week to attack Fauci's handling of the pandemic.

"Fauci and company have relied on models that were later found to be deficient. He even has suggested that he can't rely on any of the models, especially if the underlying assumptions are wrong," they wrote in an op-ed for USA Today. "Yet, Fauci persists in advocating policies that have emasculated the medical care system and ruined the economy."

"What about the countless stories of needless suffering and death produced by Fauci's one-size-fits-all approach to public health?" Paul and Biggs added.

The words come as Fauci said last week that he is open to more lockdowns following nearly three years of the pandemic.

His words noted he was "not sure" if schools should close again, a concerning statement after what the nation has recently experienced.

Studies have already shown the negative impacts of closing schools due to Covid, and the economy certainly struggled under the restrictions.

The fact that Fauci can still be open to lockdowns and masking after what has already happened shows he is not the person to be leading the nation when it comes to infectious diseases.
