“‘Mr. Kelly is fine,’ Jennifer Bonjean, Kelly’s attorney, said after the sentence was handed down. ‘We are excited for this appeal we are bringing. … Obviously, it was a hard day,'” the Washington Examiner reported.
“Kelly is devastated, but Bonjean said she believes his defense will win out in the court of appeals,” it added.

Kelly’s legal team had sought a sentence of fewer than ten years. His attorney is expected to appeal the sentencing.
The surprising sentencing for the high-profile musician is a strong sign that those convicted of sex crimes are not immune from the consequences of their actions due to their celebrity status, a move that should serve as a warning to others.
