After Trump Talk, Putin Sends Plane Full Of Supplies To US

It didn’t take long for Russia to act after Russian President Putin spoke with US President Donald Trump. Just a few days later, Putin sent a massive gift to America in hopes of aiding the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Per a CBS news report, “a Russian military plane carrying medical equipment has departed for the United States.”

The plane, an Antonov-124, loaded “with medical masks and medical equipment on board”, departed early this week for the U.S. per the report.

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, admitted the gift did not come without conditions. “Putin expected the U.S. to return the gesture if Russia faces a similar crisis and U.S. producers have increased their capacity to produce medical supplies,” CBS news reported.

“Today, when the situation touches absolutely everyone and is of a global nature, there is no alternative to acting together in the spirit of partnership and mutual assistance,” Peskov said.

President Trump acknowledged Putin’s gift by noting “Russia sent us a very, very large planeload of things, medical equipment, which was very nice.”
