White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is reportedly taking a break as the Taliban takes control of Afghanistan, adding to President Joe Biden’s vacation to Delaware as the nation faces the unraveling of its 20-year effort in the Middle East.
According to Fox News, emails to Psaki send the message, “I will be out of the office from August 15th-August 22nd.” The email refers media to other White House press officers.
“Questions to Psaki’s email from Fox News were returned with an automatic reply, stating that the voice of the White House would not be available for the next week.

A White House tweet shared on Sunday showed Biden meeting with the national security team regarding Afghanistan.

Biden has yet to speak out on the issues, however, as many Americans grow angry at the quick collapse of the military’s two decades in the region.
On Sunday, U.S. forces reportedly took over control of the Kabul airport to coordinate evacuations of embassy personnel and Afghan allies. Reports from the capital’s airport showed chaos and even gunfire.
Regardless of when Psaki returns, there will be plenty of questions to answer regarding the Taliban’s rapid power surge in Afghanistan. Biden has completely abandoned leadership at a moment of critical need, leaving many Americans furious over the situation.
