President Trump pardons General Flynn

President Trump granted a full pardon to General Michael Flynn, his former National Security Adviser, the day before Thanksgiving.

The president tweeted news of a full pardon for General Flynn:

It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon. Congratulations to

@GenFlynn  and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!
Flynn was ensnared by the FBI in a perjury trap in the first month of President Trump’s administration as part of the Russia collusion hoax dreamed up by Hillary Clinton, Peter Strzok, James Comey, and President Obama. He pleaded guilty to lying about talking with a Russian diplomat during the Trump transition which is not illegal.
Because evidence surfaced that Flynn was entrapped, the DOJ dropped the case against him in the spring of 2020, but the federal judge, Emmet Sullivan, refused to drop the case, dragging out a case that had no merit and no prosecution.
Jonathan Turley, constitutional expert and the last honest Democrat, explained the problem:
We have a case where the prosecutors have declared that there is insufficient evidence for a charge but the judge refuses to let the defendant out of his courtroom after years of delay. That is why the only basis for a pardon in this case that is stronger than the conduct of defendant is the conduct of judge.
Flynn’s bulldog attorney, former federal prosecutor, Sidney Powell lamented the broken justice system that kept Flynn a criminal for so long, and expressed gratitude for the pardon:
It’s really bittersweet because if the justice system had worked properly, we would not have had to have gotten this pardon, but we certainly appreciate President Trump giving it to Gen. Flynn because this has gone on far too long. We now know that Judge Sullivan was just a political ploy. He’s made a political game out of all of this, and it’s just one of the most egregious injustices I’ve witnessed in American history.”
General Flynn is finally a free man, thanks to President Trump, but the Deep State is not happy. Nancy Pelosi expressed her rage about the Flynn pardon and accused the president of abuse of power and Flynn of being a national security risk:
President Trump’s pardoning of Michael Flynn, who twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his dealings with a foreign adversary, is an act of grave corruption and a brazen abuse of power.
Pelosi called Flynn’s actions a danger to national security, which probably means he knows a lot about Democrat corruption, and she demanded that Flynn be “held accountable.”
(Flynn’s actions are a)…dangerous breach of our national security. He must be held accountable. Yet Trump and his team continue to put the president over country, as they politicize justice to shield Flynn and Trump from the law. Sadly, this pardon is further proof that Trump plans to use his final days in office to undermine the rule of law in the wake of his failed presidency.
Ironically, Joe Biden has already been talking to foreign leaders because that is part of a normal transition. Pelosi’s silence on Biden’s actions is a tacit admission that Michael Flynn did nothing wrong except to serve a Republican president.
