Sometimes foreign leaders are unfairly critical of U.S. presidents. Then there are times like this when they are spot-on.
Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador came forward to accuse President Joe Biden of creating the current catastrophe at the southern border, according to Breitbart. Migrants have been pouring in, overwhelming the immigration system in the U.S. and leading to crowded conditions in facilities.
“Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants,” Lopez Obrador said at a news conference. “And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so.”
The Mexican leader was exactly right. Biden has rolled back Trump-era immigration policies and the administration promised that unaccompanied minors would be cared for if they made it to the U.S. According to a CBS News report, there are over 15,000 unaccompanied minors now in custody in the U.S. with last month reaching a record-high number for February.
The influx is creating an issue for the Mexican government as migrants are coming in through their southern border from Central America. This led to Mexico’s decision to deploy 8,700 soldiers in an attempt to stem the tide who were making their way to Biden’s promised asylum.
Some of these illegal immigrants in the U.S. have directly credited Biden with their decision to try to get into the country. One migrant told ABC’s Martha Raddatz’s that he “definitely” would not be attempting the border crossing if Trump were still president. In the same line of questioning when Raddatz asked if he attempted it “because Joe Biden was elected president,” the man answered, “Basically.”
ABC’s Martha Raddatz to illegal alien who crossed the border: “Would you have tried to do this when Donald Trump was president?”
Illegal alien: “Definitely not.”

The problem is not just that people are coming, but now where to put them all. During the 2020 presidential election, Biden slammed former President Donald Trump for his immigration policy that separated minors and admitted that the “cages” that housed minors were built under the Obama-Biden administration. Biden called it a “mistake” then that they “took too long to get it right” but still left Trump on the hook.
However, the Biden administration is now packing children into “jail-like facilities” even as the coronavirus pandemic is still part of the landscape. After barring media from entering the facilities, the administration finally caved and released photos of the unaccompanied minors held in pens under foil blankets, according to The Hill.
Democrat policies are not the compassionate alternative they promised. Instead, Biden is encouraging more immigrants to flood in while the system is already overwhelmed, leading to these problems on both sides of the border.
